Welcome to Troops 44 & 45!

Everything your family needs to get started on your Scouting adventure.

A Message from Scoutmaster Grosh

Welcome to our Scouting family! Our troop is built on a Scout-led approach, where Scouts take the lead in planning and running meetings, outings, and activities. Learning by doing helps Scouts grow into confident leaders and responsible individuals.

We provide monthly camping excursions, community service, outdoor recreation, merit badges, summer and winter camps, and high adventure programs. The annual calendar is planned in advance so families can review upcoming events.

Participation is flexible. Our goal is to make sure every Scout gets the most out of their experience without feeling overwhelmed.

— Daniel Grosh, Scoutmaster Troop 44

Common Questions

Do the troops use ScoutBook?

Yes! ScoutBook tracks advancement requirements, links to merit badge counselors, and logs camping nights and service hours. Both parents and Scouts can see progress toward ranks. Access it at scoutbook.scouting.org.

What if my Scout has special health or dietary needs?

Please discuss any health, dietary, or other considerations with Scoutmaster Grosh and/or Committee Chair Hilary Brazzell. All information is handled confidentially and helps ensure your Scout participates safely.

How can adults get involved?

Our troop is volunteer-run. No prior Scouting experience is needed — guidance and training are always available. Even small contributions make a big difference: helping with merit badge work, assisting on a trip, supporting fundraising, or serving in a committee role. Talk to any leader to find the right fit.

Does the troop offer fundraising opportunities?

Yes! The troop sells camp cards and Lucky Goat Coffee, works concession stands at Tallahassee Soccer Club, chops and sells firewood, and hosts a Pumpkin Patch (over $8,000 in sales in 2024!). Revenues are shared between the troop and the Scout’s individual account to offset camping, dues, and other costs.
